Atlanta, Georgia – Isolated thunderstorms are expected across central Georgia this afternoon, with stronger storms capable of producing lightning, gusty winds, and small hail through 10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Atlanta, storm chances will peak between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., especially in cities like Macon, Thomaston, and Dublin. These storms are not expected to be severe but may bring wind gusts near 40 mph and pea-sized hail to portions of I-75 and surrounding roadways.

By Thursday, storm coverage will expand northward with scattered afternoon showers expected in the Atlanta metro area, Athens, and Carrollton. Daily storm chances continue through Sunday, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and humid conditions holding steady.

Residents in central and southern Georgia are advised to stay weather-aware this afternoon, avoid outdoor activities during peak storm hours, and secure loose outdoor items. Drivers should be cautious of slick roads and low visibility in heavier downpours.

Storm activity will become more widespread Friday through Sunday, with numerous showers expected daily across north and central Georgia. Additional advisories may be issued if storm intensity increases.
