Macon, Ga. – Isolated severe thunderstorms could rattle parts of Georgia this afternoon and tonight, bringing damaging winds and hail to cities including Macon, Dublin, and Warner Robins.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) has been issued for portions of east, central, and south Georgia. Storms are expected to develop between 2 p.m. and 2 a.m., with the strongest cells capable of producing winds up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail.
The threat zone includes key stretches of I-75 and I-16, as a slow-moving frontal boundary slides south through the state. While tornado chances remain low, isolated severe conditions could disrupt travel and outdoor activities from Augusta to Valdosta.
Residents in affected areas are urged to secure outdoor items, stay weather-aware, and avoid travel during active storm periods. Mobile alerts and NOAA weather radios are recommended for real-time updates overnight.
This is the first notable round of severe weather for the region in April, with more storm chances possible later this week. Warnings remain in effect through early Thursday morning.
