Rome, GA – A cold front sweeping across northern Georgia will bring early morning frost concerns Sunday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a frost advisory across multiple counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the advisory remains in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT on Sunday, April 13. Temperatures are expected to drop between 33°F and 36°F, with localized areas dipping to as low as 33°F, creating conditions favorable for frost formation.

The advisory includes parts of north central and northwest Georgia, spanning cities such as Rome, Dalton, Blairsville, Calhoun, Carrollton, Jasper, and Dawsonville. Counties under advisory include Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, and more.

Officials caution that frost may damage sensitive outdoor plants. Residents are encouraged to take immediate protective actions, such as covering tender vegetation or bringing plants indoors overnight.

This sudden dip follows an unseasonably warm early spring, heightening the frost risk to early blooms. Gardeners and farmers in affected areas should monitor updates and act quickly to safeguard crops and landscaping.
