Atlanta, Georgia – Blazing temperatures near 94° will grip Atlanta Sunday, but the bigger threat builds Monday as storms and sweltering heat arrive by afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, Atlanta will remain dry Sunday, but a 20% chance of thunderstorms develops after 2 p.m. Monday as highs hit 96°. Tuesday brings a 30% chance of showers and storms after 2 p.m., with peak heat and humidity creating a higher risk of lightning and gusty winds.

Commuters along I-75 and I-285 should remain alert Monday and Tuesday, when quick-moving storms may trigger isolated delays or slick pavement during the late-day drive. Residents should secure loose outdoor items and charge mobile devices now in case of brief outages.

By midweek, rain chances climb. Wednesday’s high of 95° comes with a 50% chance of storms after 2 p.m., followed by a likely round of showers Thursday and Friday. These storms could bring localized flooding to low-lying areas and reduced visibility for drivers.

This stretch of heat and humidity poses added health concerns for children, outdoor workers, and pets. Stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity in peak sun hours, and never leave people or animals inside parked vehicles.

Five-Day Atlanta Weather Outlook (July 6–July 11):

  • Tuesday: 30% chance of PM storms, high 96°
