Peachtree City, Ga. – Sweltering heat settles across Georgia starting Sunday, with heat index values climbing above 100° and storms brewing by Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 94°F. But it’s just the start. From Monday through Wednesday, afternoon temperatures will climb into the mid-90s with heat index values between 100–105°F in central Georgia. A 20% chance of thunderstorms arrives after 2 p.m. Monday, rising to 30% by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Peachtree City, along with nearby counties including Fayette, Coweta, and Spalding, could experience localized showers and brief gusty winds. Motorists on Highway 74 and GA-54 should plan for potential delays during peak travel hours. Heat Advisories may be issued, especially for areas with poor air circulation.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Avoid using high-energy appliances during peak hours to prevent grid strain. While storm chances remain low through Monday night, increasing instability could trigger isolated thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday evening.
