Atlanta, GA — Spring in Georgia is off to a foggy and fiery start. North and central parts of the state will see patchy dense fog early Wednesday morning, especially along major corridors like I-75 and I-20, making morning travel hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, fog could develop in central Georgia after 2 a.m. Wednesday, reducing visibility during early commutes. Gusty winds, paired with dry air, increase fire danger across the region through Friday. Residents should avoid outdoor burning and monitor local advisories.

Wednesday will bring sun-filled skies and highs near 73°F across metro Atlanta, with light northwest winds gusting up to 25 mph. Wednesday night will remain clear, dipping to a low around 44°F.

Here’s a five-day spring weather look for Atlanta:

  • Thursday: Sunny and breezy. High near 72°F. Fire conditions remain elevated.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny. High near 79°F. Low humidity increases wildfire potential again.
  • Saturday: Showers possible after 2 p.m. Cloudy with a high near 79°F.
  • Sunday: Scattered thunderstorms likely. High near 79°F.
  • Monday: Partly sunny with continued chance of showers. High near 75°F.

Drivers along I-75 and I-285 should remain alert for visibility issues Wednesday morning and gusty winds through midweek. Fire crews statewide urge caution as burning restrictions may be enacted.
