Baxley, GA – A flood warning has been issued for the Altamaha River near Baxley, with water levels expected to exceed flood stage by Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, FL.

As of early Friday morning, the river was measured at 72.7 feet. Forecasters predict it will rise above the flood stage of 74.5 feet late Saturday and continue climbing to 76.5 feet by Tuesday afternoon, with additional increases possible.

Flooding may impact agricultural and timber lands, along with recreational areas. Deens Landing and Linton Carter Landing boat ramps, picnic areas, and parking lots could see water intrusion once the river surpasses 74.5 feet. If the river reaches 78 feet, complete flooding of Deens and Carter Linton landings is expected, along with water encroaching on Davis Landing Road, Morris Landing Road, and Getaway Lane.

Residents in Appling, Toombs, Tattnall, and Wayne counties should remain alert to changing conditions and avoid flooded areas. Updates are available at weather.gov.
