Atlanta, GA – A cold weather advisory remains in effect for all of Georgia until 9 a.m. Wednesday, with wind chills as low as 0°F in northern areas and 5-15°F in central regions.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City warns that prolonged exposure to these temperatures can lead to hypothermia or frostbite. North Georgia cities, including Atlanta, Rome, and Gainesville, face the coldest conditions, while central Georgia areas such as Macon, Columbus, and Dublin will also experience dangerously low wind chills.
Residents are advised to wear layers of warm clothing, including hats and gloves, and to limit outdoor activities during the advisory period. Pets should be kept indoors, and vulnerable neighbors and family members should be checked on.
Authorities urge caution with portable heaters to prevent fire risks and stress that generators and grills should never be used indoors due to the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Temperatures are expected to rise later in the day, but cold conditions may linger in shaded or windy areas. Stay updated with local weather forecasts and alerts from the National Weather Service.
