Atlanta, GA – A weekend of heavy rain and storms will give way to an Arctic blast, bringing freezing temperatures and bitter wind chills next week.
According to the National Weather Service, another round of heavy rain and thunderstorms is expected Saturday night into Sunday, increasing the risk of localized flooding and strong winds. Rainfall totals could reach up to an inch, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Some areas may also experience isolated thunderstorms, adding to hazardous conditions.
Sunday will remain rainy, with a high near 62°F before a cold front moves in late in the day. By Washington’s Birthday on Monday, skies will clear, bringing sunny but colder weather, with a high of 49°F and overnight lows dropping to 32°F.
The temperature drop continues into Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 57°F. However, another system could bring more rain Tuesday night into Wednesday, with a 50% chance of showers and a high near 49°F. By midweek, the Arctic air deepens, sending overnight lows into the 20s, with wind chills making it feel even colder.
