Peachtree City, GA – Georgia residents should prepare for widespread rain and thunderstorms beginning Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday. Some areas, especially along Interstate 85 and Interstate 75 corridors, could see up to 4 inches of rain, increasing the risk of flooding.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City, the heaviest rainfall is expected Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night. With storm systems moving from Columbus to Macon, localized flooding could affect low-lying and poorly drained areas. Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roadways and exercise caution during peak rainfall periods.

Tuesday’s forecast includes steady rain throughout the day, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms after 10 a.m. Temperatures will reach a high near 67°F, with gusty winds up to 20 mph. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches. Conditions will clear slightly Wednesday morning, though a 40% chance of showers lingers before noon.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook issued Monday warns of isolated strong storms Tuesday afternoon. Residents in central and southern Georgia should stay alert for changing conditions and monitor updates from local authorities. Rainfall could disrupt travel and outdoor plans, with flash flooding possible in urban areas.

Looking ahead, drier conditions are expected Thursday and Friday, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, check local forecasts, and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. Emergency kits should include flashlights, batteries, and weather radios.
