Columbus, Georgia –Damaging winds and isolated hail could impact parts of Georgia and Alabama Tuesday afternoon as a fast-moving line of storms sweeps through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect until 9 p.m. EDT (8 p.m. CDT) for southeastern Alabama and southwestern Georgia, including cities such as Columbus, Albany, Macon, and Dothan. These storms could produce wind gusts up to 60 mph and isolated hail up to quarter-size. A couple of tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

LaGrange, Warner Robins, Troy, and Eufaula are also within the watch area. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, remain indoors during warnings, and monitor local alerts via NOAA Weather Radio or mobile apps. Power outages and downed trees are possible as the line of storms moves east.

This watch affects over 2.9 million people and more than 900 schools, highlighting the scale of potential disruption across the tri-state area.

Thunderstorms will continue into the evening, with further warnings possible as cells intensify. The National Weather Service advises remaining weather-aware through tonight.
