Gaylord, Michigan – Highs near 70°F and dry skies are giving northern Michigan a pleasant start to the week, but rain showers are expected to move in by Wednesday and linger through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, today will remain dry with high clouds and temperatures reaching into the upper 60s across much of the region. Showers will begin late Tuesday night into Wednesday, with scattered rain expected in areas including Traverse City, Alpena, and Petoskey. Temperatures will stay mild, ranging from 63°F to 74°F, but overnight lows will dip into the upper 40s.

The rain chances will diminish by Thursday evening, though another round of scattered showers is possible Friday, particularly in northeastern counties near Rogers City and eastward along the Lake Huron shoreline. Road conditions are not expected to be hazardous, but drivers should still be alert for slick pavement during morning commutes.

Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy and secure any outdoor furniture or gear ahead of Friday’s potential gusts. With cooler lows in the 40s throughout the week, layered clothing will be a smart choice for mornings and evenings.

Showers will taper off by Saturday, ushering in drier conditions for the weekend. Updates will follow if weather patterns shift or additional advisories are issued.
