Rock Island, IL – A Frost Advisory has been issued for Rock Island County tonight as temperatures are expected to dip into the low 30s. Residents along the I-80 corridor and in surrounding areas are urged to take precautions, as a Freeze Watch is also in effect for Tuesday night. With temperatures dropping into the mid-20s in some spots, outdoor plants and sensitive vegetation are at risk.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), frost is likely overnight, with lows falling between 25 and 33 degrees across much of western Illinois and eastern Iowa. These freezing conditions could cause damage to crops and outdoor plants, making it essential to cover any exposed vegetation and move sensitive items indoors. The advisory stretches beyond Rock Island County, impacting most of Iowa except Lee County.

The cold snap will be short-lived, as highs are expected to rebound into the low 60s by midweek. Tuesday night will bring another round of freezing temperatures, with lows again dipping into the 30s. By Thursday and Friday, temperatures are forecast to rise into the 70s, providing some relief from the chilly start to the week.

Residents should continue monitoring weather updates for any changes. Make sure to protect outdoor plants and prepare for frost tonight and tomorrow. The NWS advises homeowners to drain outdoor hoses and wrap exposed pipes to prevent potential damage from the freezing temperatures.
