Lincoln, IL – Freezing temperatures are expected to hit parts of central Illinois tonight through Wednesday, with frost and freeze warnings issued across several counties. Patchy frost is anticipated west of I-55 tonight, while temperatures could drop below freezing in areas west of Bloomington on Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, a freeze is more likely to impact eastern Illinois Wednesday night. The freeze warning covers regions from Bloomington to Decatur and south toward Litchfield. Temperatures could fall as low as 29-34°F Tuesday night, with even colder lows Wednesday.

Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants. Covering tender vegetation or moving potted plants indoors is recommended to avoid damage from freezing conditions.

Cold weather impacts could extend through Wednesday morning. More counties could be added to the advisory as conditions evolve. Residents should stay updated on the latest warnings and take necessary precautions to prevent frost damage.

Sources recommend checking for updates as additional counties may fall under the freeze watch in the coming days.
