Wakefield, VA – The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Frost Advisory for much of central, south-central, and eastern Virginia, along with portions of northeast North Carolina, from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, November 2.

Forecasters say overnight lows near 34 degrees are expected, allowing frost to form across rural and outlying areas. The advisory includes Richmond, Petersburg, Suffolk, Hopewell, Dinwiddie, Emporia, and parts of Hertford and Northampton Counties in North Carolina.

According to the NWS, sensitive plants and outdoor vegetation could be damaged or killed if left uncovered. Residents are urged to bring in potted plants or cover them with cloth before temperatures drop early Sunday morning.

Frost formation will be most likely in areas away from urban centers, with calm winds and clear skies overnight helping temperatures dip quickly toward dawn.

Sunday is expected to remain sunny and cool, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, before another cold night returns late Sunday into Monday.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the National Weather Service Wakefield for the latest cold-weather advisories as the region experiences its first widespread frost of the season.
