According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Friday. Southwest and west-central Iowa, as well as northeast Nebraska, will experience extreme cold through the morning. Temperatures will gradually warm over the weekend, with highs reaching the 40s by Sunday and 50s early next week.
Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 34°F, while Sunday will be warmer, with highs near 44°F. However, nighttime lows will still dip into the teens and 20s. The forecast suggests a warming trend into Monday and Tuesday, with highs climbing into the mid-50s.
Residents should take precautions when venturing outside, wearing layers, hats, and gloves. Travelers should check road conditions, as ice patches may form due to fluctuating temperatures.
