Paducah, KY – A significant winter storm is expected to hit Kentucky and surrounding states late Saturday, bringing a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. The storm will begin Saturday evening and continue into Sunday night, potentially causing hazardous travel conditions and power outages.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, precipitation will start west of the Mississippi River around midnight before spreading east into western Kentucky and Tennessee. Snowfall and ice accumulations could be substantial in some areas. Temperatures will dip into the 20s and 30s, with lows dropping further Sunday night.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for possible disruptions. Officials recommend avoiding travel during peak storm hours and stocking up on emergency supplies, including flashlights, blankets, and food. “Stay off the roads if conditions worsen,” a spokesperson said.
