Belville, NC – Ice-covered roads and frigid wind chills create dangerous conditions Thursday, but southeastern North Carolina will see relief with a warm-up by Sunday.

The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday as freezing rain tapers off, leaving slick roads and sidewalks. According to the National Weather Service, ice accumulations could create hazardous conditions for the morning commute. A Cold Weather Advisory follows, warning of wind chills as low as 9°F overnight into Friday morning.

By Friday afternoon, the sun will return, pushing temperatures to 42°F. However, wind chill values could still drop into the single digits during early morning hours. By Saturday, highs will reach 50°F, followed by a mild 58°F on Sunday.

The warming trend continues into next week, with temperatures climbing into the mid-60s by Monday. Residents should remain cautious Thursday morning due to icy conditions, especially on major highways and bridges.
