Midland, TX – A Freeze Watch has been issued for parts of western Texas, including Midland, Odessa, and Big Spring, from late Thursday night through Friday morning. Temperatures are forecast to drop as low as 29 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, the freeze could harm crops, sensitive plants, and outdoor plumbing. Affected areas also include Scurry, Howard, and Ector counties, where frost and freezing conditions are expected to persist into Friday morning.
Residents are urged to take precautionary measures. Protect plants and outdoor faucets, and bring pets indoors or provide warm, dry shelters. The freeze warning coincides with a cold front sweeping across the region, bringing the first significant dip in temperatures this season.
The weather service advises minimizing travel and outdoor activities during the early hours of Friday, as frost may cause slick surfaces. Farmers and gardeners should cover crops to mitigate damage, and those with outdoor plumbing should ensure pipes are insulated.
Stay updated on changing weather conditions through local forecasts. Plan now to safeguard your home and outdoor spaces as freezing temperatures approach.
