Waycross, GA – A freeze watch remains in effect for portions of southeast Georgia from Friday evening through Saturday morning as temperatures are expected to dip as low as 30 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, the previously issued freeze warning and cold weather advisory have been canceled. However, residents are urged to prepare for sub-freezing temperatures overnight.

The affected areas include Coffee, Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Wayne, Atkinson, Pierce, Brantley, Inland Glynn, Echols, Clinch, Inland Camden, Northern Ware, Northeastern Charlton, Southern Ware, and Western Charlton counties.

Officials advise taking precautions to protect tender vegetation, outdoor pets, and vulnerable individuals, including young children, the elderly, and those without adequate shelter.

Residents should cover or bring sensitive plants indoors and ensure pets have warm, dry shelter. Those needing assistance with cold weather shelters are encouraged to check local resources.
