Raleigh, NC – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Freeze Watch for portions of central North Carolina from late Thursday night through Friday morning, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 28 degrees.
The watch, announced Wednesday, includes cities such as Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, and Chapel Hill, and covers areas stretching from Halifax to Hoke counties. According to the NWS, the cold conditions could result in frost and freeze, potentially harming crops, sensitive plants, and unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Residents are urged to take precautionary measures, including covering tender vegetation and insulating outdoor pipes. The freeze watch will remain in effect until Friday morning, at which point temperatures are expected to rise above freezing.
