Springfield, MO – The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Freeze Warning for southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas, in effect late tonight through Sunday morning, November 2.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s to low 30s, marking a hard freeze that will likely end the growing season across the region. Areas including Springfield, Joplin, Rolla, Pittsburg, and Branson are all under the warning.
According to the NWS, any sensitive or uncovered vegetation will be at risk of dying, and residents should cover plants or bring them indoors before temperatures fall overnight.
After the cold start Sunday morning, conditions will turn sunny and dry, with highs in the mid-50s. A significant warming trend is expected next week, with highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s by Tuesday through Thursday under clear skies.
