Birmingham, AL – The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for central Alabama, set to take effect early Sunday morning. Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 30 degrees between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. CST, posing risks to sensitive vegetation and unprotected plumbing.
According to the advisory issued Saturday afternoon, affected counties include Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, and Randolph. Residents in cities such as Anniston, Gadsden, and Talladega should prepare for freezing conditions.
The National Weather Service advises taking immediate precautions to protect plants, outdoor plumbing, and sprinkler systems. Pipes should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly to prevent freezing.
