CHICAGO, IL April 11, 2025 – A freeze warning has been issued for several regions across Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, with temperatures expected to plunge to as low as 27 degrees Fahrenheit overnight into Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the freeze will affect areas in east-central and southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, as well as central and southwest Ohio. The alert will be in effect from midnight tonight through 9 AM Saturday in Ohio, and from 2 AM to 9 AM CDT Saturday in Illinois.

Sub-freezing temperatures could be as low as 28°F in Ohio and between 30°F and 32°F in parts of Illinois. The cold temperatures may damage sensitive vegetation, including crops, flowers, and other plants. Additionally, unprotected outdoor plumbing systems could face potential damage due to the freeze.

Residents in affected areas are urged to take precautions, such as covering tender plants or bringing them indoors to avoid frost damage. Homeowners should also drain outdoor sprinkler systems and cover above-ground pipes to prevent freezing.

The freeze is expected to end by mid-morning Saturday, but locals are advised to stay prepared for the cold conditions.
