Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Freeze Warning for much of central, north-central, and western Arkansas from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. CST Sunday, November 2.
Forecasters expect temperatures as low as 27 degrees, marking the coldest air of the season so far. The warning covers a wide region including Mountain Home, Harrison, Heber Springs, Hot Springs, Yellville, Batesville, and Danville.
According to the NWS, sub-freezing temperatures will kill sensitive plants, damage crops, and could harm unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to cover vegetation, wrap outdoor pipes, or let faucets drip slowly overnight to prevent freezing.
Clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to fall rapidly after midnight, resulting in a hard freeze by early Sunday morning, especially in valleys and higher elevations of the Ozarks and Ouachita Mountains.
Sunday will bring sunshine and highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, but another cold morning is likely Monday before temperatures slowly rebound through the week.
The National Weather Service Little Rock urges Arkansans to take precautions tonight as the state experiences its first widespread hard freeze of the season.
