Shreveport, LA – A significant drop in temperatures is expected across Louisiana as two cold fronts push through this week. Residents in Shreveport should brace for freezing conditions by early Friday morning, with increased chances for icy roads on major routes like I-20.
According to the National Weather Service, the first cold front will pass through Thanksgiving Day, bringing daytime highs down to the low 60s. Temperatures will drop even further Thursday night, potentially falling to 36 degrees before dipping below freezing early Friday. This marks the first seasonal freeze for many in the region.
Tuesday will remain mild, with a high of 66 degrees under sunny skies. However, clouds will build overnight as cooler air begins to settle in. Wednesday’s high of 80 degrees will be deceiving, with colder air rapidly arriving overnight. Thanksgiving Day will see a high near 61 before temperatures plunge after sunset.
By Friday morning, Shreveport could experience its coldest day of the week, with a high of just 55 degrees under sunny skies. Residents are encouraged to protect outdoor plants and bring pets indoors during overnight hours as lows dip into the 30s.
Drivers should also exercise caution on bridges and overpasses, especially along I-20 and other major highways. While freezing rain is not currently expected, below-freezing temperatures could still lead to slick spots.
