Drivers in Fort Worth should prepare for changing road conditions and slowdowns, especially along I-35W and Loop 820, as rain chances climb through the weekend and into next week.

According to the National Weather Service, storms are expected to develop after 1 p.m. Friday, bringing gusty winds and heavy rain to the Fort Worth area. The risk continues into Friday night with lingering thunderstorm chances. Rainfall amounts may reach up to half an inch in some spots, with higher totals possible inside thunderstorms.

Saturday brings another round of showers and storms, with a 50% chance of rain throughout the day and night. Expect scattered downpours to disrupt weekend plans, particularly in low-lying areas or along busy corridors like U.S. Route 287.

Conditions briefly improve Sunday with dry skies and temps in the mid-80s, but don’t count on sunshine sticking around. Showers return Monday evening and intensify Tuesday, with a 70% chance of thunderstorms by Tuesday night.
