Florida – Cool air slides in quietly, but the change feels abrupt. Windows fog lightly, grass darkens with dew, and jackets return as colder air settles across central and east-central Florida.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from early Friday morning through mid-morning for much of east-central Florida, including Brevard, Orange, Seminole, and Volusia counties. Wind chills could drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s, unusually cold for early February.

Melbourne, Palm Bay, and the Space Coast will feel the biggest shift just after sunrise Friday. Temperatures fall into the upper 30s, with a light northwest breeze making it feel colder. Inland areas, including Orlando and Kissimmee, may briefly dip into the mid-30s. While freezing temperatures are not expected, prolonged exposure could still lead to hypothermia, especially for those without adequate shelter.

Road impacts should remain minimal, but the cold may surprise early commuters and school drop-offs. Pets, outdoor plants, and anyone sensitive to cold should be protected. Use space heaters carefully and avoid unsafe heating sources indoors.

By Friday afternoon, sunshine helps temperatures rebound into the low 60s. That warming trend continues into the weekend. Saturday and Sunday turn noticeably warmer, with dry skies and highs pushing toward the upper 60s and low 70s. Nights remain cool but manageable.

Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook signals above-normal temperatures building across much of the Southeast. Signs point toward a more springlike pattern developing early next week, with daytime highs climbing steadily and fewer cold mornings.

Dress in layers Friday morning and check on neighbors who may need help staying warm. How cold did it feel where you live today?
