Tampa, Florida – Tampa is on track for an early spring heatwave with afternoon highs nearing 94°F by Thursday, raising health and fire concerns across west-central Florida.
According to the National Weather Service in Ruskin, Tuesday through Saturday will feature unseasonably hot and dry conditions. Daily highs from April 22 to April 26 are expected to remain in the low to mid-90s, with Tuesday at 90°F, Wednesday at 92°F, and Thursday and Friday peaking at 94°F. Overnight lows will hover around 69°F, providing little overnight relief.
Travelers along the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and I-275 should prepare for high cabin temps, glare, and increased vehicle strain. Local EMS urges residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and check on pets and vulnerable neighbors.
The clear skies, combined with southeast winds of 5 to 7 mph, will keep humidity levels lower, which may also increase brush fire potential in parts of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
With no rain in sight and sunshine dominating the forecast, expect dry conditions to persist. Outdoor workers, especially roofers and landscapers, are encouraged to adjust schedules to avoid peak heat between 1–5 p.m.
