Orlando, FL – Strong winds and severe storms are expected across Central Florida today as a cold front moves through the region. The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Wind Advisory from 10 AM to 7 PM EDT for all of East Central Florida, warning of sustained winds of 15-25 mph with peak gusts reaching 30-40 mph.

According to the NWS, a band of showers and storms will move east-southeast throughout the day, bringing a 70-80% chance of rain. The strongest storms could produce damaging wind gusts of 40-60 mph, small hail, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours. While the tornado threat remains low, isolated brief tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor objects and be cautious when traveling, especially in high-profile vehicles. If storms approach, seek shelter indoors. Boaters should take extra precautions as conditions on the water will quickly deteriorate.
