Miami, Florida – Severe thunderstorms are expected to impact parts of South Florida into the evening, with the Lake Okeechobee area being a key focus for damaging winds and large hail. A marginal risk for severe storms (level 1 out of 5) is in effect across the region, particularly through late evening.

According to the National Weather Service, locally damaging winds and hail of 1 inch or larger in diameter are possible with the strongest storms. While the likelihood of a tornado remains low, it cannot be ruled out, and localized flooding could also pose risks in heavier downpours.

The storm threat will continue through the evening, with the Lake Okeechobee area experiencing the most intense conditions. The National Weather Service warns residents in this region to stay alert for rapidly changing conditions, including the potential for large hail and gusty winds that could disrupt travel and outdoor activities.

Although the overall risk is marginal, storm readiness is crucial. Make sure to stay indoors during storms, avoid traveling on exposed roads, and keep your devices charged in case of power interruptions. Stay tuned for updates from local authorities as conditions may change.
