Orlando, Florida – Florida’s summer heat kicks into high gear Monday, June 2, as thunderstorms roll through Orlando by late morning, threatening to disrupt traffic along I-4 and bring bursts of heavy rain and gusty winds across Central Florida.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a 50% chance of thunderstorms develops after 11 a.m. Monday. High temperatures will reach 91°F, with humid air making it feel even hotter. Some storms may bring wind gusts up to 20 mph, and localized downpours could reduce visibility during peak travel hours.

Drivers on I-4 from Kissimmee through downtown Orlando to Sanford should stay alert for wet roads and sudden lane ponding. Lightning and brief wind gusts could impact outdoor work crews and school dismissal times. Consider delaying non-essential travel during afternoon hours.

Tuesday and Wednesday continue the stormy pattern with similar storm timing and intensity. Highs remain in the upper 80s, with daily rain chances between 50% and 60%. The strongest storms are expected Wednesday afternoon, with potential for minor flooding in low-lying areas.

By Thursday, showers taper slightly but remain a risk into the weekend. Smoky skies may return due to Canadian wildfire haze drifting into the Southeast, reducing visibility and air quality, especially for sensitive groups.

Stay weather-aware as summer storms settle in. More advisories could follow by midweek.
