Tallahassee, FL – Heat and storms will define the second half of the weekend in North Florida, with Sunday afternoon bringing the first wave of scattered thunderstorms into Tallahassee.

According to the National Weather Service, a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms will begin after 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, with daytime highs climbing to 94°F. Winds will stay light, but isolated storm cells could create sudden downpours and slick conditions along major routes like U.S. 319 and Route 27.

The storm threat continues into Sunday night, with rain chances persisting until 11 p.m. before skies clear slightly. Monday brings another 50 percent chance of afternoon storms, again paired with highs in the mid-90s. These summer pulses of heat and moisture are typical for July in the region, but drivers and outdoor workers should take precautions against lightning and wet pavement.

Looking ahead, storm chances remain elevated through midweek, especially Tuesday, when showers and possibly a thunderstorm are likely after 2 p.m. By Wednesday, rain chances increase to 70 percent, with thunderstorms expected primarily in the afternoon. Residents should stay weather-aware and limit outdoor activity during peak heat and storm hours.
