Tampa, Florida –Sunshine will dominate the Tampa Bay skies this week, but a sharp spring heat wave is pushing midweek temperatures dangerously close to 94°F.
According to the National Weather Service, high pressure over Florida is fueling a stretch of unusually hot, dry days from Wednesday through Sunday. Temperatures will climb steadily starting Wednesday, peaking between 92°F and 94°F on both Wednesday and Thursday. UV indexes will also soar, prompting safety concerns for outdoor workers and afternoon commuters, especially along I-275 and U.S. 41.
Locals are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, wear sunscreen, and stay hydrated. Nighttime offers little relief, with lows hovering near 68°F. Winds will stay light and variable, offering minimal cooling.
Thursday and Friday continue the hot, dry pattern, with highs remaining near 93°F. While the heat may feel typical for late spring in Florida, it’s a notable jump from recent cooler weeks. Residents should check cooling systems and avoid leaving pets or children in vehicles.
Looking ahead, the heat persists into the weekend:
