Tampa, Florida – Spring sunshine will dominate the skies over Tampa this weekend, but commuters could hit wet pavement Monday afternoon as rain chances return.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday and Sunday will stay hot and dry across Hillsborough County, with high temperatures near 91°F and calm winds. But a 20 percent chance of showers rolls in after 2 p.m. Monday, potentially slowing traffic on I-275 and I-4 during the evening drive.

Tampa residents planning beach days or outdoor events will enjoy mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures from Saturday through Sunday night. Light southwest winds on Saturday (3–5 mph) and slightly breezier conditions on Sunday (up to 7 mph) will keep things comfortable but dry. No rain is expected through Sunday night.

Monday’s change in weather brings a shift in wind direction from east to southwest, increasing humidity. While only a slight chance of rain is expected, even brief showers could cause slick conditions on major roadways. East winds at 6 mph may push showers inland during peak travel hours. By Monday night, chances drop to 10 percent, with skies clearing again.

  • Monday: 20% chance of showers after 2 p.m. High 90°F.
