Orlando, Florida – Severe thunderstorms packing strong winds, hail, and potential tornadoes are expected to impact east central Florida late Monday afternoon and evening, with the greatest threat between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the storms will be triggered by a sea breeze collision across the eastern Florida Peninsula. Areas south and east of Orlando, including Melbourne, Titusville, and Vero Beach, face the highest risk of dangerous conditions through tonight. Residents along the Space and Treasure Coasts should prepare for damaging wind gusts, large hail, frequent lightning, and isolated tornadoes.
The zone of concern stretches from Sanford and Kissimmee down to Fort Pierce, with the most intense storm activity likely during the evening commute. Power outages and localized flooding are possible, and emergency managers urge people to secure outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours.
Drivers are advised to monitor local radar, charge devices in advance, and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. If a warning is issued, move to an interior room away from windows.
Warnings remain in effect through 10 p.m., and additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
