Tallahassee, Florida – A fast-moving line of storms is sweeping across the Florida Panhandle today, bringing the threat of damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes through Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the storms are expected to move from northwest to southeast, impacting cities from Pensacola to Perry. Gusts could reach up to 50 mph in stronger cells, with hail up to an inch possible. Though brief, a tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Rainfall could also cause localized flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage.

Communities including Panama City, Marianna, and Apalachicola may see heavy downpours and rapidly changing conditions through the afternoon. Drivers should stay alert for sudden road ponding, and residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items.

Emergency officials recommend moving indoors when storms approach and following the motto: “When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors.” Power outages and temporary travel disruptions are possible, especially along U.S. 98 and I-10 corridors.

Storms are expected to exit the region by late evening. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen. Stay tuned to local updates and NOAA weather alerts throughout the day.
