A powerful weather system, Invest 97L, is developing in the northwest Caribbean, and forecasters predict significant impacts for Tallahassee and the surrounding areas this week. Heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding are expected starting Wednesday night and continuing through Friday. Residents are urged to take precautions and prepare emergency kits now.

According to the National Weather Service, Invest 97L has a 90% chance of developing into a hurricane. Coastal regions along the Gulf of Mexico, including parts of the northern Gulf Coast, are under heightened alert. If the storm intensifies, Tallahassee could face severe flooding, storm surges, and dangerous travel conditions along I-10. Officials recommend preparing homes and reviewing evacuation routes.

The forecast for Tallahassee shows clear weather on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 90°F. However, by Wednesday, there is a 45% chance of storms, increasing to 70% on Thursday.
