Tallahassee, FL – Severe storms are expected to impact the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, and parts of southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia late Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing damaging winds and a risk of tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the severe risk has been upgraded to an enhanced Level 3 out of 5 for southeast Alabama and portions of the Florida Panhandle. A squall line moving through the region may produce strong straight-line winds, with tornadoes possible, particularly west of the Apalachicola and Flint Rivers.

The timing of severe weather varies by region. Storms are expected to begin around 10 p.m. CT in southeast Alabama, peaking between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. before moving eastward. The Florida Panhandle could see impacts between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. ET, while areas farther east, including Tallahassee, may experience severe weather from 6 a.m. to noon.

Residents should prepare for damaging wind gusts exceeding 40 mph, especially ahead of the main storm line. Power outages and downed trees are possible. Officials recommend securing outdoor objects and staying updated through local alerts.

Severe weather threats will diminish by midday Wednesday as storms move offshore.
