Miami, Florida – A Saharan dust plume is blanketing South Florida Friday, driving temperatures into the 90s while keeping rain chances to a minimum across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the dry air mass will suppress storm activity through the day, with only isolated rain chances of 15–30% in cities like Miami (17%), Homestead (13%), and Naples (27%). The highest rain potential is in Lakeport at 41%. Meanwhile, heat will dominate, with highs soaring to 94°F in Immokalee, 93°F in La Belle, and 91°F in Everglades City.

Coastal areas from Boca Raton to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach will stay slightly cooler but still steamy, reaching the upper 80s to around 90°F. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, and monitor vulnerable groups for heat stress.

Saharan dust can also impact air quality slightly, especially for those with respiratory conditions. While skies may appear hazy, the dry, stable conditions are expected to persist into the weekend.

More heat and dry weather are likely over the next several days. Additional advisories could be issued if temperatures continue to climb.
