Florida – Headlights glow in a gray blur across Jacksonville this morning as dense fog drops visibility to a quarter mile or less. Drivers along I-95 and I-295 are creeping through thick patches, and bridges over the St. Johns River look especially hazy. If you’re commuting now, slow down and use low beams.
According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Visibility may fall below one-quarter mile at times. Low visibility could make driving hazardous through mid-morning before sunshine gradually burns through the fog.
Temperatures sit near 58 degrees and will climb quickly once skies clear. Highs reach around 77 today with light north winds. Patchy fog could redevelop late tonight into early Thursday.
There’s another concern along the coast. A High Rip Current Risk begins at 10 a.m. and continues through late tonight for Duval, Flagler and St. Johns counties. Dangerous rip currents can pull swimmers away from shore. Swim near a lifeguard and never enter rough surf alone.
By Thursday, highs surge near 80 with mostly sunny skies. Friday reaches the lower 80s with only a slight chance of a passing shower. Saturday turns even warmer, climbing into the low 80s under mostly sunny skies.
Early next week keeps the spring warmth going, with highs in the mid-80s Sunday through Tuesday. Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer daylight and rising temperatures signal a clear March warm spell.
