Jacksonville, FL – A frost advisory has been issued for parts of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia as temperatures are expected to drop to 33 degrees early Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday. Frost is likely to form in inland areas, potentially harming sensitive outdoor vegetation.

Regions affected include Suwannee, Baker, Alachua, and Bradford counties in Florida, along with Coffee, Jeff Davis, and Appling counties in Georgia. The cold snap is expected to primarily impact areas away from the coast.

Officials urge residents to take precautions to protect plants from frost damage. Covering tender vegetation with cloth or bringing potted plants indoors can help mitigate potential harm. The advisory also serves as a reminder to ensure outdoor pets are safe from the cold.

This frost advisory follows a recent pattern of cooler-than-average temperatures in the Southeast, driven by a high-pressure system. Conditions are expected to warm slightly later in the week, but early-morning lows may remain chilly through Thursday.
