Tampa, FL – Residents in parts of Central Florida are bracing for bitterly cold conditions as freeze warnings and cold weather advisories remain in effect. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28°F are expected across the region through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, a Freeze Warning remains active until 10 a.m. Friday and will resume from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday. A Cold Weather Advisory is also in effect, with wind chills as low as 22°F reported in some areas, including Sumter, Hernando, and Citrus counties.

Officials warn that frost and freeze conditions could damage crops, sensitive vegetation, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to wrap or drain exposed pipes, bring pets indoors, and use portable heaters safely.

Those venturing outside should wear layered clothing, hats, and gloves. People are also encouraged to check on vulnerable neighbors and loved ones during the cold snap.

The advisory affects inland and coastal regions, including Brooksville, Crystal River, and Dade City. Temperatures are expected to moderate after Saturday morning, providing relief from the unseasonable chill.
