Miami, FL – A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for large portions of Florida on Thursday as critical conditions—including gusty winds and low humidity—raise wildfire risks across the state.

According to the National Weather Service, the watch covers multiple regions, including South Florida, the Tampa Bay area, and parts of Northeast Florida. Forecasters warn that northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching 25 mph, combined with humidity levels as low as 26%, could lead to rapid fire spread.

In South Florida, the watch is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, impacting Metro Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe, and surrounding inland areas. Meanwhile, in the Tampa Bay region, the watch extends to counties such as Polk, Highlands, and Hardee, lasting from noon to 6 p.m. Northeast Florida, including Marion, Putnam, and Flagler counties, will also see elevated fire danger from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and take precautions against accidental ignitions. Dry conditions and wind patterns could allow fires to ignite and spread quickly.

Authorities advise staying updated on forecasts, as Red Flag Warnings may be issued if conditions worsen. Residents should report any signs of fire immediately to local emergency services.
