Miami, FL – A dense fog advisory is in effect for parts of South Florida late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Drivers face dangerous conditions, especially near Lake Okeechobee and inland areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the highest risk for hazardous driving conditions occurs between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday. The fog could reduce visibility to less than a quarter-mile.
Drivers in southwestern Florida and other inland areas should expect difficult travel conditions. The weather service reports a 60-70% chance of dense fog near Lake Okeechobee, making roads especially treacherous. A lower chance of fog exists along Florida’s east coast.
Motorists should drive cautiously, use headlights, and allow extra travel time. Delays and accidents may occur due to poor visibility.
The National Weather Service urges residents to check local forecasts before heading out. Fog may linger into the morning commute, causing continued disruptions.
