Melbourne, FL – A dense fog advisory is in effect across East Central Florida, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less. Drivers on I-95, I-4, and local roads should exercise extreme caution during their morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, this advisory covers Brevard, Volusia, Indian River, Martin, and Seminole counties and lasts until 10 a.m. Thursday. Low visibility has already been reported across the region, creating hazardous travel conditions. Residents are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles.

The foggy conditions will give way to mostly sunny skies later Thursday, with a high near 76 degrees. However, patchy fog may return overnight into Friday morning. Weekend weather looks clearer, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s on Saturday and 70 on Sunday.

In addition to the fog, coastal areas are under a high rip current advisory through late Thursday. Rip currents remain dangerous, especially along Volusia, Brevard, and St. Lucie beaches. Officials recommend avoiding swimming in affected areas.

Prepare for improving conditions later in the day, but stay vigilant during the morning hours. Use extra time when driving, and check updates from the National Weather Service for any changes to the advisory.
