Melbourne, FL — A cold start today is impacting Central Florida, with wind chills as low as 25°F in some areas. Temperatures are struggling to reach the mid-50s near I-4, while strong northwest winds continue to create hazardous beach conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Melbourne, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for Volusia, Lake, Seminole, and Orange counties until 9 a.m. Lows early this morning hovered between 33°F and 39°F. Northwest winds at 10-20 mph, with gusts nearing 25 mph, have further lowered the “feels like” temperature.
Local residents and visitors are urged to bundle up and take precautions for pets, plants, and outdoor activities. At area beaches, strong southward rip currents make swimming especially dangerous. The NWS advises avoiding the water entirely and staying informed of changing conditions.
Temperatures will recover slightly on Wednesday, with highs reaching 64°F under sunny skies. Winds will calm to 10 mph, but mornings will remain chilly. By Thursday and Friday, Melbourne can expect highs near 69°F with partly sunny conditions and lighter winds. However, a slight chance of rain returns Saturday afternoon, when temperatures may climb to 73°F.
Residents should prepare for continued cold evenings this week, with lows dropping to the mid-40s. Stay updated on weather conditions and prioritize safety for people, pets, and plants during this cooler stretch.
