Miami, FL – Hazardous coastal and marine conditions continue across South Florida today, with the National Weather Service (NWS) Miami warning beachgoers and boaters of dangerous rip currents, high surf, and strong winds through the weekend.

A High Risk of rip currents remains in effect for all Atlantic beaches—from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale, Miami Beach, and down toward Homestead. These strong, persistent currents will make swimming extremely dangerous through Sunday, and NWS urges beach visitors to stay out of the water if unsure about conditions.

A Small Craft Advisory also covers all South Florida Gulf and Atlantic waters, with hazardous boating conditions expected to continue. Along the Atlantic coast, seas will build to 6–10 feet, driven by northeast winds of 20–25 knots. In the Gulf, seas of 3–6 feet with similar wind speeds will make navigation difficult, especially for smaller vessels.

Coastal impacts will extend into tonight and early Sunday, with surf heights of 5–8 feet along exposed Atlantic beaches. Increased wave heights, strong rip currents, and pounding surf may lead to dangerous swimming and surf conditions.

Boaters are urged to avoid heading out, especially on smaller craft, as conditions can deteriorate quickly. Beachgoers should stay near staffed lifeguard towers, obey posted flags, and avoid piers or jetties where currents intensify.

Hazardous conditions may gradually ease late Sunday into Monday, but NWS will continue to issue updates as the situation evolves.
