Tallahassee, FL – A Cold Weather Advisory remains in place tonight as Florida’s Big Bend and Panhandle brace for wind chills as low as 18 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, warning of dangerously cold temperatures that could lead to hypothermiawith prolonged exposure. Residents are urged to bundle up, limit outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable neighbors, pets, and outdoor animals.

Friday will be sunny but chilly, with highs reaching only 52°F and light northeast winds. A warming trend begins Saturday, with patchy frost in the morning but temperatures climbing to 61°F by the afternoon. Sunday will be even warmer, hitting 66°F with mostly sunny skies.

Next week, a significant warm-up is expected, with temperatures reaching the 70s by Tuesday. While Florida is escaping the worst of winter’s grip, tonight’s freeze serves as a reminder that cold snaps can still pose a risk.
