Tallahassee, Florida – Dense fog continues to affect parts of southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle this morning, creating hazardous driving conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 a.m. EDT, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less in many areas.
According to the National Weather Service, the fog is primarily impacting counties from Geneva in Alabama to the coastal areas of Florida’s Big Bend and Panhandle. Areas such as Chipley, Marianna, Wewahitchka, and Bonifay, as well as roads like U.S. Highway 231 and State Route 71, are particularly affected.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain plenty of distance from other vehicles. These precautionary actions are critical as low visibility can cause dangerous driving conditions. Conditions should improve rapidly about an hour after sunrise.
The Dense Fog Advisory will remain in effect until 9 a.m. EDT. However, travelers should continue to monitor updates as visibility improves and road conditions change. More weather alerts may follow if fog persists beyond this timeframe.
